Iowan convicted of supplying liquor to teen

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A northwest Iowa man has been convicted of supplying alcohol to a Salix teenage girl who later died in traffic accident.

Seventeen-year-old Mary Hughes died Feb. 21 in a collision as she was driving on Interstate 29 south of Sioux City. Authorities later said her blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit.

The Iowa State Patrol says it learned that the alcohol Hughes drank before her death had been supplied by 26-year-old Robin Armfield, of Hornick.

The Sioux City Journal says Armfield was found guilty on Thursday of supplying alcohol to a minor, a serious misdemeanor.

He faces up to a year in jail.
