Jackson Correctional Institution holds ceremony for graduates of education program

Courses take place in a mobile lab

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) — A Jackson County program designed to help inmates get jobs is marking a milestone.

The Jackson Correctional Institution held a certificate of completion ceremony for the first group of Wisconsin inmates to be trained in computer numerical control.

The Department of Workforce Development Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek and Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld will join Department of Corrections Secretary Kevin Carr for the event.

The Department of Corrections believes the program is path toward a better future.

“I think it opened a lot of doors and gave me a lot of opportunities for when I get out. Good building block for further education,” said program graduate Kenneth Groholski.

Courses take place in a mobile lab with Western Technical College partnering for the effort.
