Janice was born July 11th, 1945 in Mason City, IA to George and Ida Eliza Hanna (Brekke). The family made their home in Fertile, Iowa, Taopi and Leroy Minnesota. She attended LeRoy schools, graduating with the class of 1963. On September 3rd, 1967 Janice was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee Hepker at Bethany Bible Church in LeRoy. In 1976 they welcomed Alisa Joy to the family followed by Serena Mae in 1988. Janice wore many hats. Over the years she worked for various businesses including The Sweet Shop, Head Start, AmPride, Corky’s Corner, and she volunteered time as a Girl Scout Leader. She also provided in home daycare and house cleaning. Through the years, she cared for her mother and husband as their health declined. Janice was a faithful member of Bethany Bible Church. Her most loved passion in life was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them, taking trips and spoiling her grandchildren along with her many nieces, nephews, and neighbor kids. Janice had a special way to make everyone near her feel loved. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in her flower garden, and making sure her yard was perfect. She also loved listening to gospel music and found Brad Boyce to be very entertaining. She will be missed by so many.
Janice is survived by her two daughters, Alisa (Nathan) Schrom, Serena (Ben) Hubbell, her five grandchildren, Arik, Michelle, Samantha, Nathan Jr., and Bradford, all of Austin, MN, two brothers Duane Hanna of Coon Rapids, Marvin (Judi) Hanna of McIntire, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth, her parents George and Ida Eliza, her sister Mayvis Speer, and brother Maynard Hanna.
Funeral Services for Janice will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Bible Church in LeRoy, MN. Interment will be at the LeRoy Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, and will continue for one hour at the church prior to the service on Friday.
