JCPenney plans to close 27 stores this year, La Crosse location not included
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — JCPenney plans to close 27 stores this year, including 18 full-line department stores and nine home and furniture stores.
According to Business Insider, the store closures span at least 13 states, including Michigan, California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Missouri. The media site received information from employees of the closing stores, local reports, and government filings.
JCPenney notified local media outlets of several store closures but declined to provide a complete list of the affected stores to Business Insider (BI).
In a statement from JCPenney to News 8, “We are not making the full list of store closures publicly available, but I can confirm the La Crosse, WI location will not be closing.”
Here is a list compiled by BI of where store closures have been announced so far. Most of these stores will close by July 5.
