Jeanne M. Affeldt

Jeanne M. Affeldt, 89, of La Crosse passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Benedictine Manor. She was born on February 22, 1932, in La Crosse to James and Mary (Metzdorff) Dayton.

Jeanne graduated from Aquinas High School in 1950. She married William Affeldt on June 30, 1951, in La Crosse. She had worked at the grocery store on French Island for 30 years. Jeanne loved working in her flower garden.

She is survived by her four children; William (Christine) Affeldt Jr. of Mukwonago, WI, Steven (Teresa) Affeldt of Lake Forest, CA, Barbara (Alex) Quinones of La Crosse and Scott (Jennifer) Affeldt of St. Louis Park, MN, eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother; Robert Dayton, two brothers-in-law; Robert (Juanita) Affeldt, James Jones, two sisters-in-law; Betty Dayton and Maxine Dayton, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 61 years, an infant son Michael, her parents, four sisters; Sister Ruthanne Dayton, Mary (Fred) Otto, Ruth (Ray) Edgeton and Jeanne’s twin sister Joan (Harry) Packman, four brothers; James (Charlotte) Dayton, John Dayton, Thomas Dayton, and David (Rose) Dayton, two sisters-in-law; Donna Jones and Darlene Dayton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 2, at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1032 Caledonia St., La Crosse. Fr. Woodrow Pace will officiate. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorials are preferred to Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. The Schumacher – Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family.
