Jill Billings sworn in as 95th Assembly rep.
LA CROSSE, Wis. — Democrat Jill Billings is now officially representing the 95th State Assembly district.
She was sworn into office Saturday morning at the Myrick Eco Park. Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley officiated the ceremony.
Billings beat Republican Dave Drewes earlier this month in a special election. She won with 73% of the vote.
The seat was vacated by Jennifer Shilling after she won the 32nd senate recall race.
“These have been challenging times this last year and people want government that works for them.,” said State Rep. Jill Billings (D-La Crosse).
“That’s she added.what I’m going to be doing in Madison. I’ll be listening to the concerns of the people in the 95th, researching issues, working hard, and doing a good job making decisions based on what’ good for the people in my district and the state of Wisconsin,”
The ceremony also included a special tribute from members of the area Hmong community.
Members of the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association tied a number of strings around Billings’ wrist. They say it’s a symbolic blessing as Billings starts her new job in Madison.
