Joan Ellen Feye passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born on February 23, 1933, to George and Elsie (Fendick) Carter in Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. After school, she apprenticed in a bakery and worked as an usherette at the local cinema. It was during her job as an usherette that she met the love of her life, an American airman named James Feye.

Jim and Joan were married on August 5, 1952 and celebrated 54 years of marriage before Jim passed away. They welcomed two children, Lyle and Linda, and lived in many places as they traveled with the military. In 1972, they moved to Belton, Missouri, in 1984, they moved to Cameron, Missouri, and then later settled in Kansas City.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim; her parents, George and Elsie; her in-laws John and Helen Feye; her beloved older sister, Pearl Carlow, of England; and grandsons Matthew Feye and Andrew Davidson.

Survivors include her children, Lyle (Pam) of Houston, TX; Linda Davidson (Steve) of Kansas City; grandchildren Kristina Feye (Nick Haley) of Sherwood, AR, Sarah Ryan (Sean) of Houston, TX, and James Feye of Bismarck, ND; John Burke and Josh Davidson of Kansas City; her beloved sister Coral Roberts of England; her godson, Darryl Martin of Wauzeka, WI, and many nieces and nephews; her granddogs Emma, Nora, Jude, Deliliah, Boris, Claire, and her guardian, Raven.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Saint Luke’s Hospice Care for the care they provided to Joan in her final months and for the compassionate support provided to the family. Special thanks to nurses Gwen and Alice, Support Guide Scott, and Chaplain Harvey.

Joan’s spirit touched everyone she met and was loved by many friends. She loved to spend time in her garden and bird watch. She was a Brit through and through. Her favorite phrase was “plod on,” and her favorite meal was always fish and chips with malt vinegar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Church in Eastman, WI, Rev. Rajan Anandan officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, Joan would like donations to the Andrew Davidson Memorial Scholarship fund to be made in her honor. Donations can be sent directly to the Northland Career Center, 1801 Branch St. Platte City, MO 64079.

Joan’s words to live by: “If you had fun, that’s all that matters,” “Take time to do something nice for yourself,” and “Plod on.” Please take time in Joan’s honor to have fun, take time to do something nice for yourself, and always plod on!
