Judge sets $500,000 cash bond for Michael Harmon

A Jackson County judge set a $500,000 cash bond for Michael Harmon.

Harmon, 36, has been charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of Angela Nelson.

Nelson was found shot to death in the bathtub of her Black River Falls residence on June 9. Harmon stated that Nelson took the gun he was carrying and waved it in his face, according to the complaint. Harmon said he struggled with Nelson to get it back, but the gun went off and Nelson died.

The medical examiner who performed the autopsy said evidence around the gun shot wound does not corroborate the statement that Nelson was shot at close range.

During Harmon’s bond hearing, where he appeared via video, he was told he could have no contact with Nelson’s family or his ex-girlfriend Billie Jo Harwick.

Harmon faces life in prison if convicted.
