Judith Noreen Ahles

Judith Noreen Ahles, age 73 of Postville, passed away on October 3, 2022 at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital, in Waukon, IA.

She was born on July 31, 1949 in Spring Grove, MN to Norman and Julia (Lasseson) Vongroven. She attended country school and was a 1967 Waukon High school graduate, she had also attended Winona State University for shorthand.

On September 18, 1976 she married James Ahles in Decorah, IA. The couple enjoyed many fishing trips together with their family. Jim preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2021.

Judy worked as a candy-striper at the old hospital in Spring Grove. She had also worked as a housekeeper at the Sportsman’s Motel in rural Dorchester, IA, at Northern Engraving in Waukon, IA and did painting with her father Norman for many years.

Judy enjoyed crafting, gardening, sewing, baking banana and zucchini bread, and lefse and rommegrot.

She was a very active member of Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church.

Judy is survived by her three children, Kyle (Jennifer) of Waterloo, IA, Chris (Stephanie) of New Albin, IA, and Katie (Ben) Leusink of Sioux Center, IA, three grandchildren Robert Ahles, and Seth and Dominick Leusink. One sister Brenda (Wes) Lawson and sister-in-law Yvonne Vongroven, and many cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband Jim, she was preceded in death by seven grandchildren, and her brother Gordon.
