Kathleen Orissa Sines
Kathleen Orissa Sines, age 87, of rural Viroqua, passed away on Sunday, November 17th, 2019 at the Norseland Nursing home in Westby. She was born on February 25th, 1932 to William and Lucille (Heiser) Keese. She attended and graduated from Winona High School. Following high school, she attended Winona State University for Physical Education. On July 8th, 1954 she married Jerry Sines in Winona. In 1957 they moved to Viroqua where Jerry had been hired at Viroqua Schools. Kay spent years as a housewife while raising their three boys. She spent many years as a substitute teacher and worked at V.A.R.C. during the 70s. In 1979, Jerry and Kay purchased a farm near West Prairie to start an apple orchard, where she grew to love the quiet life. Kay enjoyed to garden, watch birds, and visit Lake Superior north shore. Most of all she loved spending time with her granddaughters. In 2010 she moved to Norseland Nursing Home in Westby when she needed more care.
Kay is survived by her three sons, Craig (Kay) Sines, Scott (Sue) Sines, Glenn (Kim) Sines; grandchildren Sophia (Kurtis) Sines-Woodhouse, Katerina Sines, Sarah (Todd) Sowers, Holly Matherly; she is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 21st, at 11 a.m. at the Thorson Fuenral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Pam Harkema officiating. Burial will take place in the Liberty Pole Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Norseland Nursing Home Activity Fund.
