Kendhammer hearing day 2: Defense witness says West Salem man’s alibi is believable

Todd Kedhammer's new attorneys are back in court this week to present evidence they say should grant their client a new trial

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- Attorney’s for the West Salem man convicted of killing his wife say their expert can prove Todd Kendhammer’s alibi is believable.

In 2017, a jury convicted Kendhammer of killing his wife Barbara and trying to cover it up by saying Barb died when a pipe fell off a passing truck and crashed through their windshield.

Kedhammer’s new attorneys are back in court this week to present evidence they say should grant their client a new trial. On day two of testimony, a forensic pathologist, hired by the defense, told the judge a falling pipe could have caused Barb’s fatal injuries. Kenhammer’s attorneys have also argued he did not get a fair trial because of pre-trial media coverage.

Testimony is expected to wrap up on August 25th.
