Kids in West Salem take part in ‘Police Night’
WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — 4K students in West Salem got a lesson in law enforcement Monday night.
The class took part in ‘Police Night’ with deputies from the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department.
They got to meet the police dog and try a piece of the tactical gear police wear during high risk situations.
The night was also a way to show kids that officers are more than just an authority figure.
“We all have families, we’re part of the community and this is our job, we’re still part of the community. We still do everything that everybody else does,” said La Crosse Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Bauer.
The deputies also handed out personal identification cards for the students.
