Kids learn about health care using teddy bears
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Children were able to get a first hand view at what it’s like to be a doctor Sunday.
The 8th annual Teddy Bear Clinic was held at the Children’s Museum. It was an event to give kids medical experience as doctors with Teddy Bears as patients.
Various interactive stations taught them about hospital visits and what to expect. It gave kids control over the situation, something that could help them in understanding more about about their health. “When you go to the doctor, there’s a lot of people telling kids what to do and this is a chance for the kids to be in charge and to figure out what their bear needs and how to help them through it,” said Jenny Noel from Gundersen Health System.
The Teddy Bear Clinic was put together by the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a service of Gundersen Health system. The UW-La Crosse Pre-Med club also helped out.
