Kiplinglinger’s names UW-La Crosse a “best value”

LA CROSSE, Wis. — A quality education at a great price.  It’s offered in La Crosse.

UW-L is once again included on ‘Kiplinger’s Personal Finance list of 100 best values’ in public colleges in the country.  It lists the top four-year schools combining outstanding education with economic value.

UW-L comes in at number 62 based on cost for in-state students, number 52 for out of state students.

The university did slip a bit in the rankings this year, something the Chancellor says may be due to less state support coming in.  “Then tuition has to go up.  On a list of value what it’s about is the high quality at a low price.  Our price is not quite as low as it once was, although it’s still pretty good, that’s why we’re in the top 100,” says Chancellor Joe Gow.

UW-Madison ranks 13th on the new list.  UW-Eau Claire is at number 82.  The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill earned the number one spot.
