Kraft Heinz recalls Taco Bell cheese dip over botulism fears
The Kraft Heinz Foods Company is voluntarily recalling about 7,000 cases of Taco Bell Salsa Con Queso Mild Cheese Dip over botulism fears.
The company announced the recall on Tuesday, citing concerns the dip is showing signs of product separation that can lead to the potential health hazard.
The 15-ounce glass jars feature the UPC codes 021000024490 and 021000024490 with expiration dates of Dec. 27, 2018, and Jan. 23, 2019.
Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled.
There have been no consumer complaints or reports of illness related to the dip, which was distributed to retailers in the U.S. only.
Consumers who purchased the dip should not eat it and may return it to the store where purchased for an exchange or full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-310-3704 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
Botulism can cause general weakness, dizziness, double vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Other potential symptoms include difficulty in breathing, muscle weakness, abdominal distension and constipation.
People experiencing such symptoms are urged to seek immediate medical attention.
