Kwik Trip receives award for sustainable transportation efforts.

Top sustainable transportation leaders around Wisconsin were honored for their commitment to the environment at the Wisconsin Clean Cities 25th Annual Stakeholder Meeting and Awards.

First place for the Forward Fleet Award went to Kwik Trip for the amount of petroleum it displaced by using alternative fuels and sustainable transportation options.

Other awardees are, Time Transport, Inc. of Franksville; Paper Transport, Inc. of De Pere; Sheehy Mail Contractors, Inc. of Waterloo; and Contract Transport Services, LLC of Green Bay.

All together, the Forward Fleet Award winners displaced 11.5 million gasoline gallon equivalents.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the greenhouse gas emission reduction is equivalent to taking about 22,000 passenger vehicles off the road for one year.

In addition, Kwik Trip was one of three to receive the Sustainable Transportation Leadership Award.

Wisconsin Clean Cities (WCC) is a nonprofit coalition that promotes cleaner energy for transportation in Wisconsin.
