La Crosse area car dealers hope to collect 2 million pounds of food for Salvation Army in March

"All the food stays local."

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Morrie’s Auto Group, with dealerships all over the coulee region, is pushing to collect 2 million pounds of food over the month of March to benefit the Salvation Army.

“Throughout the pandemic, we have seen needs of our community become more apparent,” says Isaiah Thomas, Director of Development for the Salvation Army of La Crosse County. “This effort allows for us to continue feeding our neighbors who are hungry.”

If you’d like to help, you can help in two ways.

You can make a monetary donation online at salacrosse.org.

Or, you can drop off non-perishable food at the following locations through the month of March:

The 2 Million Pound Food Drive runs from March 1-March 31.

“All the food we collect here in the county will be used for people in need in this area,” Thomas says. “We are going to be using those food items to distribute food during our monthly giving, as well as use the food on-site here at the Salvation Army.”

Organizers will wrap up the event with a community distribution day when volunteers will sort the donated food, prepare and hand out food boxes.
