La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce hosts Newcomer Connection event
LA CROSSE (WKBT) – Making friends after moving to a new town alone can be difficult.
The La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce is trying to change that for employees hired by local businesses.
The Chamber hosted a social event Wednesday night at the Trane All Abilities Park for people who are a part of the chamber’s First Friend Newcomer Connection Program.
This program helps employers welcome their new hires by sharing local resources and getting them connected with people who share similar interests.
“Those friendships and those networking connections that have happened through the program, I think, are really powerful in helping people feel like this is their home and like they can find their people here,” said Beth Franklin, the Community Concierge for the chamber.
Community partners were also invited to today’s event to welcome people and families who are new to La Crosse.
