La Crosse area hunger relief organizations to benefit from ‘can’struction art competition

Entries are open through November 15th

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A special ‘Can’struction project will help community members in need.

The Pump House’s Artspire in La Crosse is holding the effort the ‘Can’struction Lite competition.

Community members are asked to create sculptures using at least 20 cans.

The food should then be donated to a local hunger relief organization.

UW-La Crosse’s staff joined in on the fun by creating the UW-La Crosse ‘L’.

After a larger event was canceled, the ‘lite’ event still provides a way for community members to give back.

“This was a great way to team up with ‘The Pump House’. Provide creative artwork. Also, give back to the community with the canned food and the boxed food and the bagged food that we used to create our sculpture,” said UWL Community engagement coordinator Lisa Klein.

Awards will be given for the Best Meal. Structural Ingenuity, Best Original Design, Most Cans and Best Use of Labels.

Details are available on the Artspire website.

Entries are due by November 15th.
