La Crosse Center approves 10-game schedule for pro basketball team
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The La Crosse Center has agreed in principle to a deal with the owner of a new professional basketball team to allow them to play 10 games at the Center during the 2017-2018 season.
The La Crosse Showtime of the American Basketball Association (ABA) will begin play on the last Saturday in November, with a bulk of their home games being played in December and January. The league first awarded La Crosse an expansion franchise last December.
La Crosse Center director Art Fahey says he’s happy to see basketball return to the building after nearly 20 years.
“It’s nice to have a 10-game tenant in the building, and it’s bringing basketball back in, and (team owner) Scott (Pooler) is excited about it, so hopefully he’s going to put this all together and have a successful season,” said Fahey.
Fahey says the team will pay to use the La Crosse Center prior to each game being played.
