La Crosse Center construction is ahead of schedule, but new challenge arises

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The multi-million dollar remodel of the La Crosse Center is moving along quickly.

At Monday night’s board meeting members announced construction is ahead of schedule.

The mild winter has been a big contributor to their time table.

And the project is also under budget so far.

Plus, 2019 was a great year for the center, making a profit of more than $400,000.

But there’s a new challenge to face.

The growing concern over coronavirus could be bad for business.

“We’re a gathering place, and the people we are talking to, that’s a topic. It comes up all the time. It could be just a wedding reception all the way to a big convention,” said Art Fahey, La Crosse Center Director.

Fahey says they are taking extra precautions and disinfecting measures.
