La Crosse Chamber of Commerce celebrates the accomplishments of our community

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – One event is celebrating the accomplishments of our community.

On Monday the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual meeting that recognizes local businesses, organizations, and individuals

The event looks back on the achievements of 2019, but also ahead to what’s in store for 2020.

Because of the support of businesses and organizations the Chamber is able to provide more services for the community.

One includes the First Friend Program, which helps people moving to La Crosse settle in and get to know the area.

This is especially important to bring more people to La Crosse and help the community thrive.

“We’re going to have a severe workforce shortage, we already have one. So being able to equip our businesses to tell the story of why it’s great to live in the Greater La Crosse Area is one of our main goals,” said Chamber CEO, Viki Markussen.

A few community members are also being honored at the event.

Brian Rude of Dairyland Power Cooperative received the Community Service of the Year Award.

And Joe Heim was given the Volunteer of the Year award.

Heim has put a lot of his time toward holding monthly meetings that bring businesses and our government leaders together.
