La Crosse City Council swears in 3 new members

All three ran unopposed in the election earlier this month

La Crosse’s city council is getting some new faces.

The city swore in three new council members Tuesday night at city hall.

Martin Gaul in the 16th district, Gary Padesky of the 9th district, and Philip Ostrem of the 13th district all took the oath.

All three ran unopposed in the election earlier this month.

Mayor Tim Kabat expects them to have a learning curve, but says it shouldn’t take long for them to make a difference in the community.

“As long as you’re listening to the constituents, listening to the residents and trying to use that kind of guidance for your decision-making, you know you’ll be doing the right thing,” said Mayor Kabat.

For all three new members, this is the first time serving on the council.
