La Crosse Common Council adopts changes to alternate side parking

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — New alternate side parking rules were adopted during a Thursday night Common Council meeting.

The council approved changes to the existing ordinance, removing the November to March timeframe.

Instead, alternate side parking will be in effect every time it snows more than three inches. The emergency declaration stays in effect for 48 hours after the snowfall.

Also, the rules will be in effect during the entire snow emergency, not just during overnight hours.

On odd-numbered days, cars must be parked on the side of the street that has odd-numbered addresses. Cars must be on even-numbered sides of streets on even-numbered days.

The city will notify the public six hours ahead of the snow emergency declaration.
