La Crosse community members march for democracy

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Following Tuesday’s election, people in our community marched for democracy.

On Wednesday students, community organizers, and leaders gathered in Riverside Park before making their way to City Hall; celebrating voters and calling on officials to ensure every Wisconsinites’ voice is heard.

“This is not an issue for the young or the old. For any color, for any specific kind of person. These are just Wisconsin values. We want every single vote to be counted — that’s what we care about,” said Reba Krueger, Opportunity Wisconsin Deputy Director.

Former La Crosse County Board Chair Tara Johnson was one of the speakers at the event.

Her message to voters was to be patient, be diligent, and have confidence that your ballot will be counted.

Opportunity Wisconsin, Citizen Action of Wisconsin, and SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin organized the demonstration.
