La Crosse County health officials giving parents a ‘Wake Up Call’

Do you know the warning signs of teen drug abuse?

The La Crosse County Prevention Network is hoping to open the eyes of parents with a “Wake Up Call.”

Through the month of April, they’ll be offering tours of three mock teen bedrooms with at least 20 red flags that might indicate substance abuse.

Organizers say some parents might be surprised at what common household items could be hiding.

“If you start to see two or three of those signs within a bedroom or within their space, the rec room, or wherever, you need to be having those conversations and don’t get freaked out, there is help, there is support available,” said La Crosse County health educator Judi Zabel.

The exhibit will be accepting reservations for group tours during the first two weeks of April and will open for walk-ins after that.
