La Crosse County Historical Society hosting Hixon Family Christmas event

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – This weekend and next weekend, the La Crosse County Historical Society is hosting their Hixon Family Christmas event.

This experience allows visitors to see the Hixon House decorated for a family Christmas that took place in 1905.

Guests can enjoy the sounds of holiday music and a holiday treat in the Visitor Center.

Event organizers say the presentation is a way for community members to learn about how Christmas was celebrated over 100 years ago.

“When people come, they can learn about how the Hixons set up for the holidays, what kind of decorations they used, what sort of foods they ate, how they set their table. All kinds of American Christmas Customs from around the turn of the century,” La Crosse County Historical Society interpretation coordinator Margaret Lichter said.

The event will go on Sunday and next weekend from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historic Hixon House.
