La Crosse County Library celebrates Hmong culture

LA CROSSE (WKBT) – La Crosse residents will get an opportunity to learn more about their neighbors.

From Jan. 22 to Feb. 28, you can step into Hmong culture at the La Crosse Public Library.

Hmong Diaspora: A Spotlight Collection had its grand opening on Jan. 22.

The celebration featured performances by the Hmong Community and Cultural Agency’s Youth Hmong Dance Group.

There were also plenty of Hmong snacks and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.

Organizers say that doing more to honor Hmong culture is important.

“People were really behind the idea of “let’s do more”,” said Producer and Creative Director Yia Vue. “What else can we do aside [from] just a timeline that’s just going to go on a wall?”

Visitors will get a chance to experience a guided tour of the Hmong on Jan. 29.

The full calendar of events run by the HCCA is also available on the library’s official website.
