La Crosse County policing listening session set for next week
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A forum to get La Crosse area residents’ input on policing has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 13.
The La Crosse County Criminal Justice Management Council (CJMC), the City of La Crosse, and multiple partners are inviting the public to provide input on the need for and responsibilities of a La Crosse area Citizen’s Oversight Board on Policing.
The goal is to build trust and strengthen relationships between the police and our communities by ensuring accessible and safe processes of accountability and conflict resolution.
The subcommittee is seeking public input on the structure, scope, and responsibilities of such a board, in keeping with our commitment to community engagement.
Due to COVID-19, this session will be held virtually. It was originally scheduled for this week and postponed.
Those wishing to speak at the listening session can register by sending an email to laura.abellera@gmail.com or by calling 608-291-7107. Registration ends at 4:30 p.m. Oct 13. Speakers will be given 4 minutes to provide their feedback.
