La Crosse County seasonal weight restrictions begin soon

La Crosse Co. looking to public for input on road improvements

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Season weight restrictions will go into effect on Thursday, March 5.

According to the La Crosse County Highway Department, weight restrictions on various County Trunk Highways will be imposed beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday. The weight restriction will be effective as soon as the signs are in place. Signs will be located at various intersections advising what the weight limits are for that particular highway.

The weight restrictions are for County Trunk Highways only. Any weight restrictions on State, City, and Village or Town roads are handled by each individual entity.

The seasonal weight restrictions for La Crosse County highways are as follows:

Total Number of Axles                               Maximum Gross Weight
Two (2) Axles                                                       8 Ton (16,000 lbs.)
Three (3) or More Axles (Straight Truck)      13 Ton (26,000 lbs.)
Combination Vehicles (Tractor & Trailer)     18 Ton (36,000 lbs.)
