La Crosse County sells Park Plaza

Water Place One LLC plans to turn area into 47 unit housing development

A new development is coming to the pike between La Crosse and La Crescent.

The five-acre vacant lot known as Park Plaza was sold by La Crosse County to Water Place One LLC.

They plan to turn the former Holiday Inn site into a new 47 unit housing development along with some commercial space. In December the group offered $600,000 to purchase the lot.

The County says the group plan to break ground as soon as it thaws.

“It’s very exciting. That will be a great entryway into the city of La Crosse, into La Crosse County, into the state of Wisconsin,” said La Crosse County Board Chair Tara Johnson.

The county also continues to work with Weber Holdings who will develop Lot C in downtown La Crosse into a multi-use space. The plan includes moving the County Administrative Center and selling the building to be developed into student housing.

That could be finalized on Friday.
