La Crosse electric vehicle owners educate community about EVs

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — La Crosse’s electric car and bike owners want you to think electric when you think about getting around.

To kick off the 12th annual National Drive Electric week, area electric vehicle owners took part in an “Ask me about my EV” event.

Owners answered questions about their experience going electric.

La Crosse’s MTU also showcased one of its new electric buses, and companies shared how to fuel your EV with solar energy.

Organizers say it is clear that electric vehicles are here to stay, and they want to get more people educated about the benefits these kind of vehicles have on their communities.

“There are quite a few here that were bought used, so we can give you advice about shopping for a used EV…They’re quiet. They don’t smell. You don’t have to get an oil change or get your muffler looked at,” said Cathy Van Maren, who owns an electric vehicle.

National Drive Electric Week includes more than 200 online and in-person events across the country.
