La Crosse Fire Dept. updates fleet

LA CROSSE, WI — There’s a new addition to the fleet of fire trucks in La Crosse.

The department purchased a new 100 foot platform truck, also known as a quint.

It will replace an older truck that has been in service for 20 years and has become expensive to maintain.

All three shifts are going through training on the new truck, which Assistant Chief Warren Thomas says will be a valuable addition.

“This is going to be our only platform in the city, it’s 100 foot so it’s our biggest piece of apparatus, obviously it comes with a pump as well, a water supply as well, the quint needs those things so everything we have to perform the services this apparatus is going to provide for us,” says Thomas.

The truck should be in full service within the next couple of weeks.
