La Crosse firefighters battle house fire and near 100 degree temps
LA CROSSE, Wis. — Firefighters brave the heat Tuesday night to fight an electrical fire on La Crosse’s south side.
Smoke was seen coming out of a house just after 6 p.m. on the 1700 block of Johnson Street.
Everyone got out of the house safely. The home sustained moderate damage in the attic and kitchen.
With temperatures still in the upper 90’s, crews had to take shifts to put out the fire. “We’re trying to get our guys rotated out as often as we can, obviously after 10-15 minutes wearing this heavy gear, they sweat out about everything they’ve got,” said Division Chief Jeff Murphy.
Tri-State Ambulance helped the firefighters on the scene with a cooling station.
