La Crosse firefighters do confined space training at City Brewery
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Firefighters run into dangerous situations nearly everyday. To make sure they’re ready when the call comes, they have to prepare for every type of emergency.
La Crosse’s fire department is no different. The department finished its last day of confined space training Friday at City Brewery.
The training gives the department a hands-on lesson in rescues involving hazardous fumes in small spaces.
While training like this can be difficult, instructors of the exercise say firefighters proved to be more than ready. “Hey, these are go-getters. Your fire department is very well trained, very well skilled. We had trouble all week trying to keep them busy. They were so quick and skillful that they were finishing their scenarios very quickly because they were that efficient. We’ve been very impressed with the firefighters here,” said an instructor Alex Rangel with the International Association of Firefighters.
The training was put on by the International Association of Firefighters.
