La Crosse gets grant to buy “green” city buses

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Bus riders in La Crosse could soon be traveling in a more energy efficient way.

The city is getting more than a-million dollars to replace old buses in its fleet with hybrid buses.  La Crosse is one of eight communities around Wisconsin getting a piece of more than 20-million dollars in federal grant money for bus repair and replacement projects.

The money comes from the Department of Transportation’s ‘State of Good Repair’ program.
