La Crosse Library celebrates heritage at ‘Downton Day’
Downton Abbey's historical references relate back to La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The La Crosse Library took a few steps back on Saturday to celebrate its heritage.
Downton Day looks at the popular television show Downton Abbey and how the historical references of the show can relate back to our history here in La Crosse.
The event started with some presentations followed by cooking demonstrations, dancing lessons and a display of fashion from that time period.
One event coordinator said that Downton Day was another good way for people to get in touch with their heritage.
“I think it just gives a little more historical context and makes it more relevant for people, that they might see the show and all the grand things happening there, but now it gives them something to tie back to their own personal history,” said Maria Hertel, reference librarian with the La Crosse Library.
