La Crosse looking for members for First Climate Action Plan team
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The city of La Crosse is building its first Climate Action Plan team and is looking for applicants to be a part of the team.
The Climate Action Plan is an outline with the steps the city will take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also will educate people on the effects of climate change and how to combat its effects.
CAP members will work alongside members of the city’s Common Council, representatives of public agencies and consultants to create a plan to meet the city’s climate goals. A series of seven to eight workshops will start in January and last through August. The workshops will be eight hours. PaleBLUEdot, a company dedicated to increasing sustainability and reducing carbon emissions will be a consultant on the city’s action plan.
People who want to be members of the CAP Planning Team do not need to have experience or background knowledge in the climate science. Community members who are 16 and older are invited ed to apply. Anyone under the age of 18 will need parent or guardian approval. The application can be found on the La Crosse Climate Action Plan website.
Deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24.
