La Crosse man accused of child porn, exploitation charges stands mute, enters not guilty plea

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — A La Crosse man stood mute in La Crosse County Circuit Court Thursday, entering a not guilty plea to charges of possession of child pornography and child exploitation, both repeat offenses.

28-year-old Sean Melford first appeared in court for these charges in September. According to the criminal complaint, a La Crosse investigator got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about videos and images viewed from a La Crosse address. Investigators identified Melford as the person allegedly sending pictures and videos. After he was arrested, police claim they found more images on his phone.

Melford was previously convicted of possession of child pornography and attempted extortion in California in 2017.

Melford is due back in court for pre-trial conference on November 18.
