La Crosse man in custody after allegedly shooting another in leg during argument

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — A 20-year-old man is in custody following a shots-fired call in La Crosse’s Powell Park.

Police arrested Lucious McCloud after officers responded to Powell Park Sunday night. According to police, there was a verbal argument that led to a physical altercation. McCloud shot an individual in the leg during the fight, according to police.

The victim was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

McCloud appeared in court Monday. He faces 2nd Degree Reckless Injury and Aggravated Battery, both felonies. McCloud’s attorney argued that he fired the weapon in self-defense.

Judge Todd Bjerke placed McCloud on house arrest and set signature bond at $10,000.
