La Crosse Mayor Kabat shares thoughts on proposed reorganization plan

Plan will be discussed at La Crosse Executive Committee on Friday

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat is sharing his thoughts on a reorganization plan that could bring some shakeups to city hall.

Mayor Kabat is proposing some big changes.

That includes eliminating Director positions for the city of engineering and public works, and the La Crosse Center.

Various other positions for the city would also be eliminated, but some of those positions are currently unstaffed.

Mayor Kabat says the change could bring opportunity to restore positions that were lost earlier in the pandemic.

“What I’m proposing will enable us to do that, because of the savings we’re seeing. And again, depending on what state shared revenue and our other revenues that we use to balance our budget, if those are what we expect or maybe even a little bit better. Then I will be pushing to restore some of those cuts,” said La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat.

The plan will be discussed tomorrow morning during an executive committee meeting.
