La Crosse mayoral candidate unveils neighborhood revitalization plan
LA CROSSE, Wis. — La Crosse Mayoral candidate Tim Kabat announced his plan Friday to strengthen the city’s neighborhoods.
Kabat has three major goals. One would be to build new homes in the city which would increase the tax base. He would also like to create incentives to improve current homes, and remove any barriers standing in the way. And he would like to work with the police department to lower the crime and drug problem in the city.
He also thinks the city’s large employers can help. “We should be linking up our large employers with our neighborhoods so that when they are creating new jobs and bringing new people to La Crosse to fill those jobs, that La Crosse becomes their first choice for where they want to live and we do that by having new housing for those employees,” said Kabat.
Kabat made his announcement in front of a home being built through Western Technical College’s wood tech program.
