La Crosse Police arrest man connected to incident near Northside Elementary
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — La Crosse Police arrested a man Tuesday morning after he drove past Northside Elementary School allegedly wearing a mask and holding an air-soft gun.
According to a release from the La Crosse Police Department, staff at Northside notified them at 11:47 a.m. after seeing a man drive a gold-colored vehicle drive by the school multiple times. Staff claimed that the driver was wearing a mask and holding what appeared to be a gun in the air. Children were out for recess at the time of the incident, staff said.
Police located the driver, 19-year-old Carter Radde, who told police he was on his way to pick up friends. Radde claimed that he had taken a wrong turn and drove past the school again. Police claim Radde admitted that he understood how the situation would have been alarming to Northside staff.
According to police, Radde told them he left the air-soft gun on the kitchen table assuming police had been notified. Police claim they located a mask in Radde’s vehicle and found the air-soft gun at his friend’s house.
Police arrested Radde on six charges, including terroristic threats, disorderly conduct while armed, felony bail jumping, probation hold, display of false vehicle registration plate, and operating while suspended.
Radde is being held on a $5000 cash bond.
