La Crosse police issue 800 warnings for alternate side parking

Ordinance in effect Nov. 1 to April 1

La Crosse police issued 800 warnings for cars parked on the wrong side of the street over the weekend.

The city’s Alternate Side Parking ordinance went into effect on November 1. It will be enforced from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. every morning until April 1.

On odd number days, cars should park on the odd side of the street and on even days the even side. La Crosse police said it’s critical for cars to follow the ordinance so plows can keep the whole street clear during snow emergencies.

Alternate side parking is also in effect in the City of Onalaska from November 1 until April 1, 2015 from 1 a.m. and 8 a.m.
