La Crosse police K-9 unit assists with arrest
Patrick Henke faces drug, OWI charges
LA CROSSE, Wis. — The La Crosse police K-9 unit was called to assist in the arrest of a 57-year-old man on early Saturday morning who faces several charges, including possession with intent to sell THC and a 4th Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) offense.
A police officer was about to put handcuffs on Patrick Henke after pulling him over when Henke took off running, according to the police report.
Henke ran on East Avenue towards the 1600 block of Farnam, where the officer lost track of him, the report states. The officer called in the K-9 unit to help locate Henke. A La Crosse resident called police to report a man hiding in a stairwell near the 1600 block of Farnam.
Police say when the K-9 unit arrived on scene, they told Henke to get down on the ground. When he did not obey police commands, the K-9 bit Henke in the upper right arm, the police report states. Henke was transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System-La Crosse for treatment before being transferred to the La Crosse County Jail.
La Crosse police found several baggies of THC, totaling about 97 grams. Police say they also found Henke’s drug ledger and his phone in a shoe on the porch.
Henke is facing the following charges: possession with intent to sell-THC; 4th OWI within five years; possession of drug paraphernalia; trespass; and bail jumping. A La Crosse County Judge set a $2,500 cash bond for Henke on Monday afternoon.
