La Crosse Police to crack down on drivers in school zones

In less than a week, a new school year starts for most students. And police are reminding drivers to be safe in school zones.

Starting Tuesday, La Crosse police officers will be cracking down.

A pair of grants are supporting the increase in enforcement and education.

In the end, officers say it’s all about safety. “With the start of the school year, make sure that people are being educated and following the rules of the road out there and make sure they’re aware that the kids are around there, make sure they’re following all of the rules that they need to,” said Lt. Patrick Hogan.

It’s also important for pedestrians and bikers to look both ways and pay attention for cars.
