La Crosse Polytechnic School students, staff receive volunteer award from Children’s Museum

LA CROSSE  (WKBT) — La Crosse Polytechnic School students and staff are getting some recognition for their hard work.

The Children’s Museum of La Crosse presented the school with a Volunteer of the Year Award.

Museum leaders say the students and staff at Polytechnic help clean and lead games and special activities at the museum.

Seventh-grader Elliot Jesson said volunteering at the museum not only helps others but also himself.

“It helped me learn and helped me see how I used to play and how I can play again,” Elliot said. “And then what it means to these kids. We are like these big kids, and you’re little on the playground and the big kid recognizes you, it’s like ‘oh my gosh, that’s so cool.'”

The museum offers exhibits and programming for kids ages 1 through 12.

If you are interested in volunteering at the museum, more information can be found here.
