La Crosse Public Library starts class to revive sewing skills

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The La Crosse Public Library is trying to revive interest in the skill of sewing.

The library began a six-week sewing class Thursday for people looking for a new hobby.

“We know that, within the community, sewing is something that has been mentioned to us to offer different kinds of programming,” said programming librarian Kathy Kabat. “So this allows us to fulfil one of the community needs.”

The class, which will take place on Thursdays through Aug. 25, teaches sewing basics. It will include how to make a quick table runner and drawstring bag among other projects.

The library is providing sewing machines for each participant.
