La Crosse Public Works approves master plan for Riverside North

Redevelopment of former Mobile Oil Site moves forward

La Crosse is looking to move forward with a plan to redevelop the former Mobil Oil Site.

Monday, the board of Public Works approved the master plan for Riverside North, the area along Copeland Avenue across from Festival Foods.

The plan was created back in May with public input from a series of meetings called a “Charrette”. Now it will work its way through city government for full approval.

The city planning department only sees one major hurdle in the way.

“Funding is going to be the challenge with this project. There are some tentative approvals in the 2015 capital budget that will help to continue to move some of those projects forward to get this closer to being developed,” said La Crosse Interim Planning and Development Director Amy Peterson.

The master plan is expected to go before the full city council at their meetings in three weeks.
