La Crosse Riverfest offers children’s parade and bike race

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The final day of La Crosse’s Riverfest started with a kids parade Sunday. For the first time, the kids’ parade included a marching band where homemade instruments were used,

After a year without Riverfest, the directors were just happy to get the community back out to enjoy the event.

“Oh it’s so nice, All the smiles, people are so grateful and we are grateful for people to come out. and support Riverfest,” Bailey McGowan said, Riverfest director. “Because it is a community festival all of the profits go right back into the community. ”

After the parade, some of the kids participated in a bike race. Kids raced tricycles and the winner of each race got to keep the trikes. After the races are done names were drawn to see who wins other prizes.

“So one of the changes this year is that the bike races have been on the main drag next to the river but this year we moved it up to the community tent which makes sense. But also it’s hot and there’s shade,” McGowan said. “So this seems to be working out much better.”

All of the trikes and scooters were all donated.
